Screencasting

A screencast is a recording of all activity on a computer screen including audio. The presenter can personalise the recording by adding their own image speaking via a webcam or simply a voice-over. A screencast can include many multimedia elements — music, sound effects, interactivity with the Internet and programs such as PowerPoint, making any content topic engaging while also appealing to different learning styles. The educational benefits include instructional and self-paced learning which can be personalised to suit your students. Students can also use the free version to create their own orals but with the advantages of advanced preparation and the inclusion of multimedia elements.

Why have we selected Screencast-O-Matic?

  1. Free / simple to use

  2. Screencasts can be saved as MP4 or AVI files

  3. A more advanced version of the program (including editing) is available for $15 per year
