The judges had a really tough time choosing a winner from all of the wonderful, creative and artistic entries.

QSLA supports school libraries all across Queensland – providing advocacy, communication and information to our members.
In 2018, we are introducing a ‘Queensland School Library Week’ to focus on the work accomplished by qualified teacher-librarians and library staff in improving literacy and research skills in print and digital formats in ALL school libraries, not only those who are members of QSLA. The 2018 theme ‘School Libraries IN FOCUS’ reflects the aim of this celebratory week.

For QSLA members, please login to the members area of the QSLA website to download your free A3 poster.
For non-members, please complete the attached order form to download the A3 poster for $10 inclusive of GST.
2. Free Infographic download 'School Libraries and Teacher Librarians' researched and created by Kay Oddone.
A visual literature review created by Kay using extensive research which investigates the role of the school library and teacher-librarian, and how they might contribute to improved student learning outcomes.

Primary School –
Artwork First Prize
School: $100 Book vouchers
Student: $50 Book vouchers
Students to draw or paint a character or event from a favourite book.
Secondary School -
Photo shoot First prize
School: $100 Book vouchers
Student: $50 Book vouchers
Students submit a digital photo of themselves reading somewhere unusual (no photoshopping).
Suggested timeline for School Libraries
- Advertise the competitions to the school community in the week prior to 5th March to ensure you are able to display student submissions in your library during QLD School Library Week.
- Suggest students vote for their favourite 3 entries. Digitally submit each of your top 3 entries (with signed 'Authority to Display' form to the QSLA Secretariat via email secretariat@qsla.org.au by Wednesday 14th March.
Winning entries will be displayed on the Queensland School Library website.
Winning schools will be notified on Fri 23rd March 2018.

Mini competitions to hold in-house in your library:
- Most avid reader (highest loans since start of year - announce Friday).
- Guess the most borrowed book in 2017.
Display top 10 at end of week. - Create a mini book (either cartoon or picture book).
Invite some visitors:
- Daily lunch break 'Read Aloud' - with students or teachers.
- Parents - set up several reading corners.
- Local Council Library staff - what can they offer?
- Author visit or Journalist (discuss fake news!).
